      The Audi V8 was a luxury sedan that Audi produced from 1988 to 1993. It was Audi’s first car to feature a V8 engine and the first to combine Audi’s quattro all-wheel-drive system with an automatic transmission. The V8 was the predecessor to the modern-day Audi A8.

      Engine
      The V8 had a 3.6-liter V8 engine with four-valve-per-cylinder technology and twin overhead camshafts per bank. Later models had a 4.2-liter version of the engine. 
      Transmission
      The V8 was available with a five-speed manual gearbox in some markets, but most UK models had an electronically controlled four-speed automatic transmission.

      The V8 had a galvanized steel body with a 10-year anti-perforation warranty. 

      Replacement
      The Audi V8 was replaced by the Audi A8 in 1994, though the A8 wasn’t marketed in North America until 1996.
